About Us
The history of UniTel and the UniTel family of companies began in 1902 as a local telephone company with seven subscribers between Unity and Dixmont, Maine. Over 100 years later, we now serve approximately 5,000 customers in all or part of eleven towns in Waldo, Penobscot and Kennebec Counties with local service and access to long Distance service, Directory Assistance, Operator Services, Centrex, Voice Mail, Data circuits, Internet and Paging.
We are proud of the communities we serve and enjoy working with local residents and businesses to develop products and services that continue to meet their changing technology needs. UniTel has been operating on an Enhanced Fiber Optic Network for years. We continue to upgrade our equipment and facilities at a faster pace than many others in the industry to ensure our customers are getting the latest and greatest in telecommunication services. Our customers are our top priority and we understand their unique needs because we live here too.
